Markup and margin are not the same number
Two words for two different divisions. Charge a markup and call it a margin and you are short on every job, by a gap that widens the more you add.

Wall face less every opening, plus the ceiling if you are boarding it, over the size of sheet you are hanging. Rounded up, because you cannot buy nine tenths of one.

Baseboard and trim, in linear feet
Base is the perimeter less the doors. Not less the windows — and subtracting those is the second commonest arithmetic error in a takeoff. It always goes short.
Square footage of a room that is not a rectangle
Every generic calculator asks for a width and a depth, which is another way of saying it has already decided your room is a box. Most rooms worth measuring are not.
Every one of these refuses to invent a number. There is no assumed waste figure, no assumed paint coverage and no material price anywhere on this site — those are facts about your job and your supplier, and a figure made up here would end up underneath somebody’s order.
